Wisconsin Alliance for Minority Participation (WiscAMP) at Beloit College

WiscAMP is part of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) that is federally funded by the National Science Foundation. WiscAMP became a member of LSAMP in 2004. The overall goal is to increase the success and degrees of underrepresented domestic minorities (African American, Hispanic/Latino/a, Native American & Pacific Islanders) in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines.

This program offers peer mentoring and other activities to enable the success of first-year students who are enrolled in a science or math course and interested in pursuing a STEM degree. Students meet with a peer mentor, attend cohort meetings, and have access to a faculty liaison in every science/math department. The goal is to make sure each student has what they need to be successful in any science or math course. Students also learn about how to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) degrees and opportunities for employment after graduation.
